Waterskiing

Sean Water Skiing July 2007

I love waterskiing. I truly love it. Can I tell you why?

First off, the boat. I have a job so I can have a boat…it’s where I like to be. Those who love boats know what I’m talking about…those who don’t, think I’m crazy. Yes, boats are demanding lovers…but I love them.

Next is the water. Be on it, be in it. Yes, I love the water – swimming, jumping, boating, fishing, floating, skiing and skating – I like myself when I’m with the water.

The ski – come on, everybody loves good equipment. The gadgets…the kit.

But of course there’s so much more to waterskiing than just these individual elements. A great waterski session is made up of many factors, combined. The weather and lake conditions play a huge role, as does the boat driver…so many pieces at play.

When it’s all said and done though, it’s really a very simple and private moment. The connection of you to all the extraneous parts and pieces…an athletic performance worked into your conversation with nature. The water. The Boat. The ski…You.

Breath. Watch. Listen. Smile.

These are calm and meaningful, playful moments.

I love waterskiing…
